Mathyas “VJ” Voisin
Composer and sound therapist Mathyas Voisin has spent over a decade exploring the therapeutic properties of alternative musical frequencies.
Trained in music therapy and contemporary composition techniques, he has developed a unique sound language — sober, elegant, deeply effective — rooted in the 432hz and 444hz frequencies.
Every composition serves a precise intention: guiding the nervous system toward a state of rest, regeneration, or balance.
A bit of history
Origins of music therapy
Music therapy draws on the oldest of traditions: sound has always been used to influence the body, emotions, and consciousness. In ancient Greece, therapists already used various instruments and rhythms to act on moods, while Pythagoras explored the mathematical dimension of the "music of the spheres" to harmonize humanity with the universe.
Historical traces can also be found in biblical accounts, such as David soothing King Saul's torments with his lyre. The modern development of the discipline in the West accelerated in the 20th century, particularly after World War II, when music was used to relieve the psychological and physical trauma of soldiers.
In France, the discipline took shape in the 1970s under pioneers such as Jacques Jost and Rolando Benenzon — the latter having introduced the foundational concept of ISO (Sound Identity), which defines the sonic universe unique to each individual.

Scientific evidence on the subject
Current scientific research on the specific benefits of 432 Hz shows encouraging results, though often described as preliminary due to the limited sample sizes studied.
Several pilot studies report measurable physiological effects: listening to music at 432 Hz is associated with a significant decrease in heart rate (−4.79 bpm on average) and a drop in blood pressure, compared to 440 Hz. Regarding sleep, a study of patients with spinal cord injuries showed a marked improvement in sleep quality after listening to music at 432 Hz, while 440 Hz showed no notable effect.
In terms of perception, listeners frequently describe this frequency as warmer, rounder, deeper, and conducive to relaxation. Experts nonetheless point out that these effects could be linked to individual preferences or a placebo effect, and stress the need for more rigorous clinical studies to confirm these therapeutic properties.

A brief history of 432 Hz
Verdi's tuning fork
The "Verdi tuning fork" refers to tuning the note A4 to 432 Hz — an alternative to today's international standard of 440 Hz. In 1881, Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi vigorously campaigned for this standard, which he called the "scientific tuning fork".
His motivations were primarily physiological: he was concerned about the constant rise in tuning pitch, which caused excessive vocal fatigue in singers and altered the natural registers of the human voice. Mathematically, this tuning makes C5 vibrate at exactly 256 Hz — a power of two (2⁸), often cited as a mark of elegance and "naturalness".
Italy adopted this tuning fork in 1884 for its military bands, but international standards ultimately imposed 440 Hz over the course of the 20th century, for reasons of industrial coordination and radio broadcasting.
